Obituary of Robert James Floate

Robert Floate, age 84, of Clio, died Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Genesys Convalescent Center in Grand Blanc. The memorial service will take place Monday September 22, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Cremation has taken place. Robert’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Monday from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Robert was born April 9, 1930, in Owosso, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Walter Howard and Clova Gale (Bell) Floate. He attended Flint Central High School. He worked at Buick for 40 years until he retired. Robert was a member of UAW Local #599, Old Car Club of Mt. Morris and a long time member of the Sand Lake Sno-goers. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are three children: Robert Floate, Keith Floate and Susan Adkins; three step-children: Greg Cochran, Candy Wilkerson, and Bryan Cochran; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. Robert was preceded in death by death by his parents, his wife, Georgia Ryal, his second wife, Betty Taylor.
