Obituary of Jean C. Rutherford

Age 76, of Vassar, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper surrounded by her loving family. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service is to be held at a later date. Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 18, 2015, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home - Vassar. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jean was born December 24, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Marshall and Leona (Loranger) DeShone. She married Larry Rutherford on February 6, 1960, in Caro, Michigan. Sadly he preceded her in death on March, 19, 2004. Jean enjoyed crafts, shopping and gardening. She will always be remembered as a caring, sweet and kind wife, mother and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are four children: David Rutherford, Kevin Rutherford, Wendy and husband, Mike Raycraft, and Kelly and husband, William Potter; eight grandchildren: Maggie, Ray, Cody, Marshall, Robbie, Heather, and Jimmy; four great-grandchildren: Harlo, Michael, Austin, and Kayla; five brothers and sisters: Tim and wife, Colleen DeShone, Pat DeShone, Chris and wife, Tracy DeShone, Penny and husband, Butch Reimers, and Tracy; and her dog, Freedom. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Nancy Warner and two brothers, Bill and Ron DeShone.
