Obituary of Steven Dwight Deitering

Age 50, of Grand Blanc Twp., died suddenly, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00am, Thursday, June 25, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with cremation to follow. Steve’s family will be present at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 8:00pm. On Wednesday evening, family, friends and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 6:00pm. On Thursday morning, Steve will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Steve was born August 4, 1964 in Petoskey, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight and Margaret (Slattery) Deitering. A graduate of Jefferson High School, in Monroe, Michigan, he would go on to attend trade school, leading him to his career as an iron worker, in the construction industry. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary #822, where he was also a past president and on the honor guard. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Marie and husband, Shane Manteuffel, Tabitha and husband, Jake Uselman, Jonathon and wife, Tina Deitering, Megan Deitering and Steve Deitering; eight grandchildren; mother, Margaret Head; brothers and sisters, John Deitering, Karen and husband, Brian Wilson, Cheryl and husband, Don Galster, Mary and husband, Bob Bournival, Susan Townsend, Jim and wife, Phyllis Deitering Richard and wife, Gaylene Deitering, George and wife, Barbara Head; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Dwight; brother, David Deitering; and step father, Clarence Head. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the officers and staff of the Grand Blanc Township Police Department for their care and concern. It is greatly appreciated.
