Obituary of Mildred Louise Shriner

Of Mt. Morris, age 87, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at McLaren-Flint. The funeral service will take place 2:00 pm, Friday, June 26, 2015, at the North Flushing Baptist Church, 7500 W. Mt. Morris Rd., Flushing, Michigan 48433. Pastor Dale Lewis will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Mildred’s family will be present to receive friends at church on Friday from 11:00 am until time of service at 2:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the church. Envelopes are available at the church. Mildred was born May 17, 1928, in Caraway, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Herman and Amanda (Jackson) Otte. She and William Shriner were united in marriage November 3, 1945, in Madella, Arkansas. Sadly, he preceded her in death on March 21, 2009. She worked with AC Spark Plug of General Motors as an inspector for 22 years, retiring in 1985. Within her church, she assisted in the kitchen for a variety of church-sponsored events. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, flowers and gardening, baking cakes, especially her peanut butter cake, and collecting “costume” jewelry. Also, she loved basketball and was a huge Pistons fan. Mildred leaves to cherish her memory her children; Linda and husband Ralph Weible and Doug Shriner; daughters-in-law, Myra Shriner and Sandra Shriner, six grandchildren; Melisa and husband Kevin Person, Amanda and husband Jeff Jarrad, Jody and husband Chip Meredith, Keith Shriner, Tina Shriner, and Heidi and husband Shaun Alcondray, 15 great-grandchildren and many special friends and extended family members and her two dogs Rusty and Ellie Mae. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William, and two sons Kenneth and Jeffrey Shriner.
