Carole Lea (Telgenhoff) Campbell was born on March 13, 1943, in Cadillac, Michigan, to Leon and Lenora (McCarey) Telgenhoff. She was one of 13 children, growing up as part of a large family. Carole married the love of her life, the late Fredrick N. Campbell, on November 18, 1961. Together, they built a life filled with love and raised three children: Laurie Yott, the late Kimberly Belanger, and Robert Campbell. Carole dedicated many years to Mount Morris Community Schools, where she served as head of the cafeteria before retiring in 1999. Carole and Fred eventually made their way to their forever home in Grayling, where they created many cherished memories. Christmas was especially near and dear to Carole’s heart, and she loved decorating her home for the holiday, transforming it into a magical wonderland that could rival Bronner’s. Her home was always a place of warmth, comfort, and welcome. Carole was a devoted member of Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church, where she joyfully sang in the choir and participated in numerous church activities. She also enjoyed being involved with The Red Hat Society, volunteering, and giving back to her community.
Carole had a heart of gold and a special way of making everyone feel loved and accepted. She was kind, caring, and compassionate, always welcoming others with open arms and never passing judgment or allowing anyone to feel left out. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every opportunity to bring everyone together. She especially loved hosting family gatherings in her home, where laughter, conversation, and precious memories were shared. Carole enjoyed playing cribbage, Scrabble, and cards with family and friends, and she found happiness in gardening and expressing herself through writing poetry. Whether she was tending to her garden, preparing for a holiday, gathering with loved ones, or simply sharing a kind word, Carole had a beautiful way of making life brighter for those around her. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for her generous spirit, her welcoming heart, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Laurie Yott of Clio, and Robert (Christine) Campbell of Holly; grandchildren: Marcus Belanger, Mallory Yott, Troy (Stephanie) Yott, Tyler Brown, Kasey (Garrett Rodocker) Campbell, Kelsey Campbell, and Robert (Mickey) Aldridge; great grandchildren: Eliza Belanger, Lea Belanger, Wesley Yott, Reese Yott, Giana Vela, Asher Rodocker, Luke LaPointe, and Emma LaPointe; sister, Doris (Jim) Gerst; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Campbell; parents: Leon and Lenora Telgenhoff; daughter, Kimberly Belanger; brothers: Leonard, George, Reggie, Richard, Don, Walter, and Dale; and sisters: Winfred, Vivian, Evelyn, and Delores.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Residential Hospice, Tara Johnson and Maria Doyle, for their compassion and kindness to Carole and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to the Dementia Society of America.
