Danny Lee Reil

Age 77, of Burton, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be considered to a charity of one's choice. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Danny’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.

Danny Lee Reil was born on February 17, 1947, in Bay City, Michigan, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Margaret (Gilbert) Reil. Danny graduated from Vassar High School as part of the class of 1966. Shortly after graduating high school, Danny heeded his call of duty and enlisted in the United States Army. Wounded in battle, Danny would meet Marcia Cravener, an Army surgical nurse at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Upon return to civilian life, he and Marcia maintained contact, and the two would later be married on January 21, 1971, at Vassar Methodist Church. The two would spend decades with one another, building a bond and unity that would be cherished. Danny and Marcia were blessed with many children, to whom Danny loved above all else. Sadly, Marcia would precede Danny in passing on February 6, 2021. Danny worked as a tool and die maker for Means Industries in Vassar for many years before his well-earned retirement in 2008.

Danny enjoyed spending a large amount of time outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing in the tip of the thumb of Michigan, spanning from Standish to Caseville. Additionally, he and his wife spent a large amount of time camping. The two were members of Outdoor Adventures, and they would also spend many weeks at a time over the summer camping in Standish. In his free time, he also enjoyed watching Western films, playing Euchre, collecting different kinds of coins, and bowling in various leagues.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Randy Reil Sr and wife, Cindy, Christine Harris and husband, Gareth, Brian Reil and wife, Carol, Richard Reil and wife, Brenda; his 23 grandchildren; his 23 great-grandchildren; his 3 great-great-grandchildren; his siblings: Dave, Nancy, Debbie; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Danny was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years: Marcia Reil; his son: Donald Reil; his granddaughter: Laura White; his parents: Ray and Marge Reil; and his brother: Ron Reil.
