David was born in Asheville, North Carolina, on January 20, 1954; he is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Ernest and Norma (Brown) Aiken. Educated locally, David graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School with the class of 1972. Heeding the call of duty, David enlisted in the United States Navy until receiving his discharge. Upon returning to civilian life, he would marry the love of his life, Shirley Bryan on February 15, 1975, in Morenci, Michigan. Sadly, Shirley preceded him in death on July 3, 2021. David worked as a forklift operator for General Motors. Most of his 25-year career was at Buick. He was a longtime member of UAW #599 and the Auto City Eagles Aerie #3485. In his free time, David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and watching ABC 12 news. David was an American Civil War enthusiast who enjoyed watching reenactments, reading historical research, and seeing the collected artifacts.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jennifer and husband, Kevin Perryman, and David Bryan Aiken; two grandchildren: Ashlyn and Alyssa; sister, Denise and husband, Mike Whitcomb; longtime friends: Jerry and wife, Norma Hoffman; and many other family members and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; and good friend, Fred Valley.
