David William Boris was born in Flint, Michigan on September 17, 1968 to Anthony Frank (Jr) and Margaret Ann (Wiklanski) Boris. He passed away at McLaren Hospital in Flint on Saturday, May 16th, 2026 at the age of 57. His wife, Rebecca, and step-son, Scott, were at his side.
David enjoyed accounting classes in high school and was one of the first to take the new ‘Computerized Accounting’ class as a Senior at Birch Run High School, where he graduated with honors in 1986. He later attended college, graduating first with an Associate of Applied Science in Automated Accounting Applications from Great Lakes Junior College in 1993 and continuing on to a Bachelor of Business Administration with High Honor degree in 1998 from the Detroit College of Business. David was a staff accountant at the Woronoff Hyman Levenson Sweet & Alderman, PC accounting firm in Farmington Hills at the time of his passing.
David joined the United States Army in 1988 as a Heavy AntiArmor Weapons Infantryman earning Marksman badges in Rifle, Hand Grenade, and Tow Gunner while enlisted.
David married Lucinda Spiekerman in 1989 and welcomed daughters Jerrica and Tevra in the early ‘90s.
Shortly after his divorce was final, David reached out to his first love and reunited with Rebecca Oram Wittig in 2001. After several years together, they married on June 21, 2008 and would have celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary next month.
Summer weekends were often spent camping and traveling the great state of Michigan with his daughters and stepchildren. Later, after the children were grown, David and Rebecca enjoyed traveling, taking cruises to Canada, Mexico, and Alaska, and road tripping through the American West, visiting many National Parks. David also enjoyed time at home around the campfire, reading on his Kindle, and spending quality time with the cats.
Sports played an important part in David’s life; he assisted his father in coaching softball in his younger years and played football his freshman year of high school. An avid Detroit Pistons fan, he enjoyed half-season tickets when the team was still located at the Palace of Auburn Hills and enjoyed the occasional Detroit Tigers game. Minor league hockey games also took up many weekends. The Detroit Lions were best enjoyed from his favorite living room recliner with a frosty Lions Lemonade close at hand.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Marge; his brother-in-law Ric Frost; and several aunts and uncles. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Rebecca; daughters Jerrica and Tevra; stepchildren Deborah (Aaron) Shropshire, Shannon, Jeffrey, Scott, and Cheyenne Wittig; and his beloved ‘Grand Monster’ Gracie Shropshire. He is also survived by his siblings Debbie Frost, Steve (Tammy) Boris, and Tony (Sherry) Boris; nieces Madison Boris and Devin (Zac) Gedeon; nephews Tristan (Alyssa) Klepoch, Ashton (Maggie) Boris, and Tyler Boris, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A bonfire/campfire will be planned for a future date to celebrate David's life and love of fires.
David's obituary was lovingly written by his family.
