David was born on August 16, 1948, in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willard and Ruth (Dean) Slough. Educated locally, David attended Mt. Morris High School and graduated with the Class of 1966. Heeding the call to serve his country, David proudly served in the United States Army for two years during the Vietnam War. David was honorably discharged in 1972 and would then return to the States. Upon his return, he began his career working at General Motors where he worked as a lineman for 30 years until his retirement. David met the love of his life, Jill Dolan, and the two were united in marriage on June 5, 1971. Sadly, she preceded him in death on December 4, 2004. David was an avid member of St. Mary Catholic Church and held many positions while there, including singing in the choir, and being a Eucharistic Minister, taking communion to the homebound parishioners. He was also a 4th Degree Knight in Davison, was in the singing Knights, and was the Grand Knight from 2013 to 2014, a member of the VFW Local #5666 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3609. David enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife and after his retirement that is exactly what he did. They enjoyed going on cruises and traveling to Texas, where they stayed for a whole year. In his free time, David enjoyed camping all over up North, spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Matthew, and caring for his beloved dogs, Jillian and Rosie.

Left to cherish David’s memory are his daughter, Rebecca Elswick and significant other, Joe Paivarinta; grandson, Matthew Elswick; siblings: John and wife, Sharon Slough, Donna Laurin, Debra Allen, Janet Buterakos, Janice Slough, Dianna Slough; many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jill Slough; grandson, Christopher Elswick; brother, Willard Slough; brothers-in-law: Arthur Laurin, and Harold Allen.
