Age 89, of Grand Blanc, died May 6, 2024, at Ascension Genesys Hospital, with his family by his side. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Church of the Holy Family. Fr. Eugene was born on April 24, 1935, in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Florence (LeBeau) Fish. Educated locally, Eugene graduated from St. Michael’s Catholic School with the Class of 1953. In 1958, Eugene was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Korea during Peacetime until his honorable discharge in 1960. Upon his return to the States, Eugene continued his education and obtained his master’s degree from Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Connecticut. Eugene was a member of the Church of the Holy Family and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He started his career as a carpenter at GMI until his retirement. Eugene was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. As a carpenter, Eugene loved woodworking and building cabinetry. He was a very social person and was musically inclined and loved to sing. Eugene had a heart for others and donated to over 40 charities in the United States as well as overseas. Eugene was an avid traveler and has taken many trips to Europe including his favorite places, Rome and Italy. In his free time, he enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with his family.
Left to cherish Eugene’s memory are his children: Lori (Mike) Wiskur, Terri (Rollie) Gilbert, Jean Marie (Phil) Nobach; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister, Eunice Joann; brother, Lowell and sister, Nora.
