Gary Howard

Age 71, of Columbiaville, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in his home. A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 1194 East Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris, Michigan. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell to officiate. Family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Gary Wayne Howard was born on February 4, 1954, in Manila, Arkansas, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard and Lillie (Hardin) Howard. Educated locally, Gary graduated with the class of 1973 from Hamady High School. Gifted with his craftsmanship, Gary worked as an independent contractor for 35 years. In his free time, Gary enjoyed keeping occupied in any way he could. He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and watching various sports, such as wrestling, NASCAR, and football, specifically the Detroit Lions. Most of all, Gary found joy in spending time with his family and friends. He would often accompany his family on various trips, including Gatlinburg, Las Vegas, and Canada. His family was his pride and joy, and he would make sure to attend any event or gathering.

Left to cherish his memory are his five children: Tracy Hutchison, Mike and wife, Jody Bowen, Stacy and husband, Bruce Rockwell, Christina and husband, Jeremy Hassar, Angie and husband, Nathan Riley; his partner: Cheryl Harrington; his 11 grandchildren: Samantha Hutchison, Joshua Hutchison, A.J. Munoz, Kamryn Hoadley, Carissa and husband, Andrew Allen, Kyle Rockwell, Kayla Rockwell, Triston Byers, Devin Hassar, Timothy Klein, Carlee Leek; his five great-grandchildren: Bentley, Sophia, Oaklynn, Maevin, Makenzie, his two sisters: Jenny LaMay, Ann Snyder; his brother: Dean and wife, Faye Howard; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife: Gayla Bowen; his parents: Leonard and Lillie Howard; his sister and brother-in-law: Joy and Ray “Buzz” Ridley; his brother: Jerry Howard; his son-in-law: Jamey Hutchison; his mother-in-law: Margaret Forrest; and his brother-in-law: Bruce “Cork” LaMay.
