Geraldine Trudy Engelmann

Age 82, of Flushing, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 3:30 pm until 6:30 pm at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 1194 E. Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris, Michigan. Geraldine was born on November 5, 1943, in West Branch, Michigan, to Mr. and Mrs. James and Alice (Davis) McDonald. She began her working career as a line worker at AC Spark Plugs before pursuing her dream of owning her own business. Geraldine founded Earthworks Plant Shop, which grew to three locations that she proudly owned and operated for 42 years. Outside of work, Geraldine enjoyed hobbies that reflected her love of both creativity and the outdoors. She found joy in fishing, flowers and plants, visiting casinos, enjoying carrot cake, traveling, reading mystery and spy novels, working on puzzles, watching live video streams of baby eagles in their nest, and golfing barefoot—which must have worked, as she once scored a birdie. Above all, Geraldine treasured time spent with her family, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

Geraldine is survived by her sons, Rodney Engelmann and Greg (Tammy) Engelmann; her grandchildren, Amanda (Beebe), Jeremy, and Ethan; her great-grandchildren, Jayden and Jordon; her sisters, Kathy and Suzie; her best friends, Vonda and Pam; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, James; her parents, James and Alice McDonald; her sisters, Diana, Sally, and Mary; and her former spouses, James Gulledge and Gerald Engelmann.

Geraldine will be remembered for her strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and deep love for her family. Her independence, creativity, and ability to find joy in life’s simple pleasures left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She lived life on her own terms, with determination, and warmth. Her memory will be forever cherished.
