Age 99, of Clio, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at home with her family by her side. Mass of Christian burial will take place, 1:00 pm, Friday, February 20, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev Fr. Roy Horning officiating with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Isabel’s family will be present at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Thursday, February 19, 2026, to receive friends from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm; Thursday evening, family, friends, and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at 6:00 pm. On Friday, Isabel will be taken to church to lie in state from 12:00 Noon until the time of mass at 1:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Isabel’s tribute page on martinfuneralhome.com. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Isabel was born in Black River, Michigan, on June 24, 1926; she is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Edmond and Agnes (LaFave) Mercier. She married the love of her life, Benjamin Gauthier on September 23, 1944, in Bay City, Michigan. Sadly, Benjamin preceded her in death on February 10, 2014. Isabel loved spending time with her family and friends; especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and going to the casino. She was well known for baking; and being able to make the best cookies and pies. Isabel was also known for wanting to make sure none of her visitors left hungry; she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are five children: Gerald and wife, Debra Gauthier, Diana and husband, Charles Sneed, Richard and wife, Mary Gauthier, Angela and husband, Ronald O'Dell, Steven Gauthier; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Sandy and Delores Gauthier; Kathleen DeRocher; and many other family members and friends.
Isabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benjamin; seven siblings.
