Age 84, of Mt. Morris, peacefully passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025. A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00pm on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 1194 East Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris, Michigan. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present to receive friends from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday, 11:00am until 8:00pm on Thursday, and again on Friday from 10:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to Gentiva Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Jack Albert Arnold was born on August 3, 1941, in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Vivian and Maxine (Proctor) Arnold. Educated locally, Jack graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1959. Shortly after graduating, Jack heeded the call of duty, enlisting in the United States Navy on November 10, 1959. During his time in the service, Petty Officer Second Class Arnold was assigned to Patrol Squadron 44, stationed at the Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Maryland. Petty Officer Second Class Arnold worked as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic, and he was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal. While stationed in Maryland, Jack would meet the love of his life, Catherine (Kate) Abell. The two would be united in marriage on October 5, 1961, in Hollywood, Maryland. On November 8, 1963, Jack received his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, and the two would return to Jack’s home town, Mt. Morris, Michigan. Jack and Kate were blessed with four children, to whom Jack would cherish deeply. He worked for over 30 years for the United States Postal Service as the Postmaster for the Mt. Morris Post Office, retiring in 1997.
Living a social lifestyle, Jack was a member of many social groups and organizations. He served as a Mt. Morris City Councilman for 26 years, was a member of the National Association of Postmasters, the Trade Winds Travelers Camping Club, the National Campers and Hikers Association, and most notably, the Mt. Morris Kiwanis Club. During his time as a Kiwanis Club member, Jack maintained perfect attendance for 29 years, as well as being a Past President and being awarded Kiwanean of the Year. In his free time, Jack enjoyed woodworking, watching John Wayne movies, reading Louis Lamour novels, and camping all over the country with his wife, Kate. To many, Jack would be described as creative, loyal, and funny.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 64 years: Kate Arnold; his three children: Rich and wife, Nancy Arnold, Jackie Arnold, Cindy Arnold; his grandchildren: Jessica Yoon, Benjamin Arnold, Samuel Arnold, Jessica Tobias, Zachary Tobias, Mackenzie Sooy, Peighton Fisher, Timothy Hodge, Jack Arnold, Karis Arnold, Luke Arnold; his four great-grandchildren: Liliana, Aria, Gia, Westin; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents: Vivian and Maxine Arnold; his son: Donald Arnold; his sister: Janet; his brother: Rolland; as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
