James "Jim" Daniel

James Edward Daniel, age 82, of Clio, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at home with family by his side. A funeral service will take place at 10:30am on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 1194 East Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris, Michigan. Pastor Dan Shinabarger to officiate with burial to follow at Thetford Twp. Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am. Jim was born on September 7, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Almyra (Irwin) Daniel. Jim met, fell in love with, and married the love of his life, Rita Pringle on August 31, 1974, at Bethany United Methodist Church in Clio. Devoted to his work, Jim worked as a used car salesman until his well-earned retirement in 2002. During his time, he worked for many dealerships, most notably being Mt. Morris Auto Sales, which is where he retired after 30 years of employment. His love for cars extended outside of his work, as Jim would spend much of his time building and repairing race cars, participating in races, and watching NASCAR.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed playing the slot machines at Soaring Eagles Casino, working on his tractors, and collecting guns and knives. Additionally, he found enjoyment in collecting and building model trains. When he wasn’t working on his cars and tractors, Jim would spend his time relaxing by watching various TV shows and movies, as well as listening to older country music.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 51 years: Rita Daniel; his three children: James C. Daniel, Jennifer and husband, Jim Rose, Jesse Daniel; his granddaughter: Rachel and husband, Ryan Cook; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

James was preceded in death by his parents: John and Almyra Daniel; his daughter: Lauralee Daniel; his siblings: Carl, Naomi, Jerry, Isom, Asher, Sally, John, Eunice, Bonnie, Eileen; as well as many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.
