James L. Soper

Age, 92, of Flint, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026. A funeral service will take place at 12:30pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 1194 E. Mt. Morris Rd. Mt. Morris, Michigan. Samantha Groom to officiate with a burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. James' family will be present to receive friends and family at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 10:30am to the time of service at 12:30pm. James was born on April 1, 1933, in Bay City, Michigan, to Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Fern (Hazel) Soper. James proudly served in the United States Army and retired from General Motors. He enjoyed walking and riding his bike, spending time visiting family and friends and was always rooting for the Detroit Tigers.

James is survived by his three children: James (Dora) Soper, Denise (Martin) Roberts Julia (Francisco) Cortez; grandchildren: Lucas (Tylene) Soper, Tracy (Brent) Fuller, Anthony Reyes, Dean (Sarah) Roberts, Eric Roberts, Desiree (Tom Jr.) Severn, Francisco Cortez Jr; great-grandchildren: Tivia Soper, Tionne Soper, Tia (Dominic) Turner, Penelope Fuller, Kayden and Elisha Boucher, Lilly Roberts, Devan Severn; and great-great-grandchild, Macey Turner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Fern; brothers: Edward, Donald, and Harold;  grandson, Dustin Boucher; and special friend, JoJo.
