Age 38, of Flushing, went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2024, at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, with her beloved family by her side. A funeral service will take place at 11:00am, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church in Flushing. Pastor Ron Scott to officiate, with burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Janel’s family will be present to receive friends from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. On Wednesday morning, Janel will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to Genesee Christian School or Trinity Baptist Church. Janel was born in Flint, on December 18, 1985, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney and Deborah Hoeflinger. Educated locally, she graduated from Genesee Christian Schools with the Class of 2004. After graduation, Janel would continue her education and received her bachelor’s degree in accounting at the University of Michigan-Flint. Janel met the love of her life, Jacob Lougheed, and they were united in marriage on January 30, 2010. Their union would be blessed with two beautiful daughters. Janel attended Trinity Baptist Church in Flushing. She had a deep love for God and had an unwavering faith, having peace in God’s perfect plan for her and her family. Crafting was one of Janel’s favorite hobbies, making many crafts for her family and friends. Spending time with her family was what Janel enjoyed most of all. Whether that was baking with her mom, sisters, and daughters, vacationing with her husband and children, or just spending time outside enjoying the crispness of the fall and watching the snow fall. Janel was deeply caring and overly generous and was said to brighten everyone’s day. She was a blessing to everyone she met and will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Jacob Lougheed; beautiful daughters: Maggie and Bailey; parents: Rod and Debbie Hoeflinger; siblings: Lynnette and husband, Scott Salo, Daniel Hoeflinger, Kimberly and husband, Santana Duran, Ben and wife, Sirena Hoeflinger; grandmothers: Margaret Evans, Naomi Hoeflinger; mother and father-in-law: Devon and Amy Lougheed; sister-in-law, Laura and husband, Chad Massey; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Janel was preceded in death by her grandfathers: William Evans and William Hoeflinger; and uncles, David Stace and Greg Hotchkiss.
