Age, 67, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026 in Montrose. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Jimmy's tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.
Jimmy Alan Hiney was born on January 22, 1959 in Flint, Michigan, to Mr. and Mrs. Ronald and Diane (Nefsey) Hiney. Jimmy formed strong roots growing up and cultivated a lifelong love for learning and hard work. He was a proud graduate of Milford High School, finishing in 1977, and soon after completed a roofers union apprenticeship, marking the beginning of a distinguished career. For 29 years, Jimmy was a dedicated member of Roofers Union 149, where he earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues through his expertise and strong work ethic. Later, he continued his commitment to excellence while working at Ford Motor Company, where he served faithfully until his retirement in 2015.
Those who knew Jimmy will remember his playful, witty spirit—he was a true jokester, always ready with a quip or a laugh to lift the spirits of those around him. His talents were not limited to his trade; Jimmy’s passion for music ran deep. He was a gifted guitarist and bass player, spending countless joyful hours performing in a band aptly named "Cheap Whiskey." Classic rock was the soundtrack of his life, and he cherished every opportunity to share his love for music with others. Jimmy’s interests spanned far and wide. Whether fishing on a peaceful lake, exploring the outdoors, or tinkering as a self-proclaimed Jack of All Trades, he relished the simple pleasures life had to offer. He found joy in his favorite television shows, especially "Family Guy" and "The Simpsons," often offering observations that reflected his unique wit. His curiosity about the world was evident in his love for WWII documentaries and Star Trek, reflecting both a keen mind and an adventurous spirit. Above all else, Jimmy will be remembered for the positive impact he made on all who had the privilege to know him. His laughter, kindness, and lively stories will be dearly missed. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, talent, and a zest for life that will long be cherished.
Left to cherish his memory are his fiancé, Diana; his daughters, Jacquelyn and Jennifer; his son, Jason; his brother, Danny Hiney; his sister, Linda Willer; his grandchildren, Alexzandrea, Ryder, Leo, and Averionna; his beloved dog, Quinn; and many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Diane; his brother, Michael; his sister, Lenora; his second wife, Christine Brown-Hiney; and his third wife, Dawn Hiney.
