Karen Lee Plew was born on June 26, 1950, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Mr. Robert Plew and Mrs. Phyllis (Ferguson) Plew Vivian. Karen graduated from Holly High School and would later achieve her license to become a Licensed Nurse Practitioner. With a desire to provide comforting care to everyone, she would work as a LPN for over 40 years. During this time, she worked for many different facilities, including Crowne Point Endoscopy and Surgery Center and Hurley Select Speciality Hospital. Additionally, she worked for McLaren Regional Medical Center for over 20 years. Living a devoted life of faith, Karen was a longtime member of Mt. Morris Church of Christ. Additionally, she completed many mission trips to Honduras with the Swartz Creek Church of Christ. Even outside the walls of the church, Karen would often have personal Bible studies and loved to attend virtual services when she wasn’t able to attend in person.

In her free time, Karen loved to travel and visit places, new and old. She would often visit Cheboygan and East Tawas with her family. Karen also would travel to Shipshewana, Indiana frequently with friends to visit the flea market. The trip would extend to Ontario, Canada when she would visit Forest Cliff Camp with her siblings, where she and many of her siblings were camp counselors. In addition to travelling and attending church, Karen loved listening to Christian music, watching western cowboy movies, and playing games, including Yahtzee, Monopoly, and Euchre. Spending time with her family and friends was what Karen enjoyed the most.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Carol Bowen, Barbara Goings, Gary and wife, Debbie Plew, Wendy and husband, Randy Fishback; her dearest friends: Pam and Charles Koan, Phyllis Schumacher, Boyd and Phyllis Yancy; close church friends: Ronda Poe, Barb Floyd, Ruth Watson, Garfield and Nancy Cooper, and Nick Franklin; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
