Age 71, of Flushing, died Sunday, January 31, 2021, at home with her family by her side. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery in Mt. Morris. Chaplin Hank Messing to officiate. Kathy was born in Flint on January 17, 1950, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn “Bud” and Theodora “Teddy” Miller Boone. Educated locally, Kathy graduated from Flint Northwestern High School with the Class of 1968. After high school, she attended Western Michigan Univerisity then went to Oakland University to complete her master’s degree. Kathy dedicated 30 years to teaching; she started working in the Montrose School District, spending the majority of her career working at Washington Elementary in Flint, Michigan, working as a special education teacher until her retirement in 2003. Kathy met, dated, and fell in love with William “Bill” Burch; the two were united in marriage in May of 1987. Kathy and Bill were members of the Flushing Elks Club, spending time with dear friends at the club and at their cottage on Henderson Lake; Kathy loved to entertain. While relaxing on the lake, Kathy could be found reading a book, the Flint Journal, or completing crossword puzzles. Kathy was a joy to be around and always made everyone smile. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Joshua, and wife Melissa Pickard; step-children: Terry Pickard, Tracy, and husband Scott Bailey; brother-in-law: Gary Yerman; niece: Ronda Jordan; nephew: Todd Yerman; four step-grandchildren; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Bill; and, sister Judy Yerman.
