Lillian (Cone) Ondovcsik was born on August 17, 1929, in Cullman, Alabama, to Mr. and Mrs. Homer and Dellie (Grimmett) Cone. She was raised on a farm in Alabama, where she developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family and simple joys. In 1953, Lillian moved to Michigan, where she began working as a line worker and custodian for General Motors. She dedicated 26 years of service to the company before retiring in 1976. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Andrew, in Flint at All Saints Catholic Church.
Lillian was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Altar Society, where she spent time visiting residents in nursing homes, offering prayers and companionship. She was also known for generously preparing meals for funeral luncheons, always giving of herself to support others. Lillian had a lifelong love of cooking and was rarely found without something on the stove. In her later years, although she cooked less, she never missed making Sunday breakfast with her son, Michael, a cherished tradition. She found great joy in traveling with her dear friend Janet Blankenship, visiting Janet’s family in Indiana, New York, Texas, and Washington State. Lillian was also skilled with a needle and thread, often repairing her own clothing with care and precision. She dearly loved her two cats, TomTom and Calico, but above all, Lillian treasured the time she spent with her family and friends. Her kindness, generosity, and devotion to those she loved will be remembered always.
Lillian is survived by her sons: Gary (Karen) Connell and Michael (Linda) Ondovcsik; her sister: Louise Thomas; her sister in-law: Judy Connell; and several beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Andrew; her sons: Andy Jr. and Randy Connell; her sisters: Lilly (Dave) Cook, Unice (Hewlett) Tucker, and Ruby (William) Boatright; and her parents: Homer and Dellie.
