Malcolm was born in Flint on September 11, 1929, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm and Helen (Wright) Boughen. Educated locally, he attended Flint Central High School and graduated with the Class of 1946. Malcolm proudly enlisted in the United States National Guard. Not long after his enlistment, he was needed in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country during the Korean War from January 5, 1951, to October 4, 1952. A beautiful young lady named Marjorie Keith was working at the Red Cross and worked to get him home from the service to take care of his mother who was ill. After she recovered, he had to return to the service, but they continued to write while he was away and once he returned they were married on January 15, 1955. They were inseparable after that. Malcolm worked as a Supervisor for AT&T until his retirement in 1984. Malcolm was an avid golfer at the Clio Country Club for 57 years serving as the President in 1986, Treasurer, and other various board positions and committees over the years. He also enjoyed bowling on the Michigan Bell and AT&T league for many years. Malcolm played football in high school which led to him becoming an avid U of M football fan, he never missed a game. Working on his property was something he took great pride in. He loved to keep his property neat and clean and was often found outside picking up acorns, beechnuts, and sticks. Malcolm loved cookies and was known as the Cookie Monster. He always had several varieties of cookies in the house, especially peanut butter as they were his favorite. When he was younger, Malcolm’s family always had Boston Terriers. He has followed in his parents’ footsteps and loved them still. In his free time, Malcolm enjoyed reading mystery novels. Malcolm loved his family, especially his granddaughter. He taught her how to ride a bike when she was younger, among many other things. She was his pride and joy. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish Malcolm's memory are his daughter, Lorrie and husband, Stephen Gelenger; granddaughter, Miranda and husband, Brandon Schulte; great-grandson, Jayce Schulte.

Malcolm was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Marjorie; his parents; father and mother-in-law, William Ross and Avis Keith.
