Marie Jeanne Courter

Age 82, of Flint, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Marie’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.

Marie-Claude Jeanne Courter was born on September 6, 1943, in Troyes, France, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert and Antoinette (Codaccioni) Cayrel. Graduating from high school in France, Marie later moved to Michigan. She worked for over 30 years at Meijer, working in many different roles during her time there. While working at Meijer, she also created and managed her own business, Chicago Wholesale. She would sell ladies apparel and products throughout the Flint area, including makeup, nail polish, and various clothing items. Marie was blessed with two beautiful daughters, to whom she would cherish deeply. In her free time, Marie loved to travel all over, especially North Carolina, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Chicago. Additionally, she maintained a beautiful flower garden, would often work out with her daughter, Caroline, and loved to listen to music. Marie was also a big cat lover, often taking in strays and providing them with loving homes.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter: Caroline Wells; her nephew: Charles and family, as well as her niece: Camille and family.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents: Gilbert and Antoinette Cayrel; her daughter: Valerie Lombard; her brother: Gilbert; and her sister: Martine.
