He was born on November 14, 1957 in Flint, Michigan to Gary and LaNease Creed. He grew up in Corunna and attended local schools before graduating from Corunna High School in 1975. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and wished to be remembered as such. He especially enjoyed deer hunting and waterfowl hunting as well as fishing and trapping. He made long bows and was a competitive marksman in his youth. It was often said that “no one was a better shot than Mark Creed.” His knowledge and passion for hunting and firearms will survive in the skills he passed on to his daughters and daughter-in-law.

Mark worked for Buick for 31 years before retiring in 2009 and was a proud member of UAW Local 599. His stories from his time on the line will live on long after he’s gone. Mark had a photographic memory and was an avid reader. When he wasn’t outdoors, he could be found with a book or a newspaper in his hand. He was especially fond of history and outdoor periodicals, and he was feared by more than a few newspaper editors.

Mark enjoyed birdwatching and could identify numerous birds both visually and by their songs. He took great joy in feeding his backyard birds. He especially loved his Eastern Bluebirds and looked forward to watching them nest in his boxes every spring. Mark was truly one-of-a-kind, and those who knew him well will remember him as quite the character.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of nearly 18 years, Judy; his daughters: Selena Creed (Alison Kinning), Briana Creed, and step-daughter, April Standen (Dave Standen); his grandchildren: Chelsea Wright (Tyler), Nicole Standen (Lance), and Emily Zimmeran (Max); great-grandchildren: Ava, Tucker, Aiden, and Lilly; his father, Gary Creed; his brother, Jeff (Cheryl) Creed; his sister, Lisa Creed; his brothers-in-law: David Cuneaz, Harry Cuneaz, and Terry (Dawn) Cuneaz; his nephew, Cliff (Sara) Breiler and their children: Addison, Emersyn, and Asher; and his nephew, Tyler Creed (Troy Noordyke).

He is preceded in death by his mother, LaNease Creed; his brother-in-law, William Cuneaz; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Cuneaz; and his beloved dog, Isabella.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged in Mark’s name to the YWCA Safe House (www.ywcaflint.org) where his wife, Judy, worked for 20 years.

Mark's obituary was lovingly written by his family.
