Maxine Vuncannon

Age 91, of Clio, died Saturday, October 12, 2024, a Maplewood Manor in Clio. A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00pm, Monday, October 21, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Reverend Garrett Starr to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Maxine’s family will be present to receive friends from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm. Maxine was born on December 29, 1932, in Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Philene (Van Tifflin) Frazier. Educated locally, Maxine graduated from Clio High School with the Class of 1950. On January 10, 1953, Maxine married the love of her life, Ernest Vuncannon. Their union was blessed with three wonderful men. Sadly, he preceded her in death on February 11, 2007. Maxine began her career working in the main office for Buick. She then switched gears and began her career working at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth for 18 years. She was a member of the Clio Assembly of God where she enjoyed helping in any capacity, she was able. From funeral dinners to cleaning up and everything in between. Maxine was at her best when she was helping others and often looked for ways to be helpful. Maxine enjoyed being outside in her garden, tending to her beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed doing arts and crafts. In her younger years, Maxine enjoyed bowling on a league for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed mystery novels as well as a good romance novel. With her husband, the two had traveled to Texas, North and South Carolina, Arizona, Las Vegas, and Florida. Her family was the highlight of her life. In her free time, Maxine enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, U of M Football and every police and firefighter show she could find.

Left to cherish Maxine’s memory are her grandchildren: Bobby and wife, Corey Vuncannon, Brittany Vuncannon; great-grandchildren: Peyton, Addison; sisters: Joyce Balderstone, Carol Sanders; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Vuncannon; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Maxine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ernest Vuncannon; sons: Robert “Bob”Vuncannon, Paul Vuncannon, and Stephen Vuncannon; siblings: Richard, Betty, Charles, and Jean.
