Ronald "Ron" was born on December 30, 1945, in Gladwin, Michigan, to Mr. and Mrs. Orville and Lillian (Fischer) Thorington. Ron proudly served in the United States Army before marrying the love of his life, Lucy Ann LePage, on May 24, 1968. They shared 57 years of marriage and made their home in Clio, where they lived in the same house for more than 52 years. There, Ron farmed the land and together they raised three children, building a life rooted in family, hard work, and devotion.
Ron retired from General Motors after many years of dedicated service. He had a kind and playful soul and was known for his craftsmanship and generosity with his time. He enjoyed camping and going to auctions, and among his favorite hobbies were building pig roasters and meat smokers, and processing meat, where he mentored many in the art of meat processing, always willing to teach and share what he knew.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Lucy; his children, Julie Tack (Patrick), Tricia Thorington (Matthew Duranseau), and Scott Thorington (Amber Alexander); his grandchildren, Jessica Gutierrez (Mike O'Farrell), Anthony
"Tony" Sisson (Allison Maynard), ErronMarie Tack, and Gavin Thorington; his siblings, Larry Thorington (Cindy) and LuAnn Thorington, sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Lillian Thorington, and his younger brother, Dean Thorington.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and papa whose kindness, generosity, and steady presence touched all who knew him.
Ron's obituary was lovingly written by his family.
