Rosalie "Karen" Hansen

Age 82, of Clio, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at New Calvary Cemetery, 4142 Flushing Road, Flint, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Rosalie “Karen” Hansen was born on October 9, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alois and Germaine (Yelle) Hansen. Karen obtained her Masters Degree from University of Michigan. She would work for the Flint Board of Education as a librarian for over 30 years before her well-earned retirement in 1995. Her love for University of Michigan and books continued outside of her education and career. Karen was one of UofM’s biggest fans and could tell anyone their statistics and highlights. She also was an avid reader and could always be found with a book in hand. Her collection of books would cover many different genres and topics, and she would later donate many books to the University of Iowa. She also found passion in her faith, as she was a longtime parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, Michigan.

Living a life of generosity, Karen would donate much of her time to different organizations. She became involved in the Clio Senior Center and would assist with many of the activities held there. She also would volunteer at the food bank for St. Mary Catholic Church on Tuesdays. Along with donating her time, she also would regularly donate blood. Karen was a kindhearted soul who would help any and all that she could.

Left to cherish her memory are many beloved nieces and nephews; as well as her canine companion: Lily.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents: Alois and Germaine Hansen; her two sisters: Laura Hansen and Joyce Wellman; her brother: Al Hansen; and her niece: Debbie Madden.
