Rose Marie Hanner

Age 89, of Mt. Morris, passed away at home surrounded by her family and lots of love on Friday, September 18, 2026. A funeral service will take place at 11:30 am on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 1194 East Mt Morris Road, Mt Morris, Michigan. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell to officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, September 24, 2026 from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 11:30 am. Rose Marie (Zielaskowski) Hanner was born on August 11, 1937, in Alpena, Michigan, to Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Mary (Werda) Zielaskowski. She married the love of her life, Melvin, on September 28, 1957 in Alpena, Michigan at St. Mary's Church. Rose found joy in the simple pleasures of life and cherished the time she spent with her family. She had a green thumb and took great pride in tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, especially her strawberries. She enjoyed having garage sales of her own, traveling, baking and cooking, and gathering with family and friends. Rose and Melvin made many wonderful memories together camping at Higgins Lake and Bay City, enjoying ice cream at Nibbles at Higgins Lake, and, in their younger years, going dancing, where Rose especially loved to polka. She also enjoyed crocheting beautiful doilies, putting together puzzles, and spending time working in the yard. She proudly displayed Melvin’s woodworking creations throughout their yard, adding a personal touch to the home they shared. Above all, Rose treasured the many memories made with those she loved and will be remembered for the warmth and joy she brought to her family.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Melvin; children: Patrick (Dana), Sally, and Deborah (Dennis); grandchildren: Nicholas (Mandy), Christopher, Amy, Roseann, Jessica, and Nathan; many great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; siblings: Betty, Gertrude, and Clara; and many beloved extended family members and friends.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Mary; and her siblings: Jane, Esther, Leo, and Felix.
