Age 63, of Mt. Morris, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025, at his home. In accordance with Samuel’s wishes, cremation will take place. There are no further services scheduled at this time. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Sam’s tribute page on martinfuneralhome.com.
Sam was born April 20,1962, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was the son of Mr. Earl Shock & Mrs. Patricia (McAberns) Thompson. Educated locally, Sam graduated from Flint Central High School with the class of 1962. Shortly after graduating, Sam would heed the call of duty enlisting in the United States Navy proudly serving from 1983 until receiving his honorable discharge in 1987. During his time in service, Sam was stationed in the Mediterranean Sea on the USS Mahan as a Missile Technician. In his free time, Sam enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, fishing and riding his Harley. His love of Harleys didn’t stop at just riding them, he was also a certified Harley mechanic.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Patricia (Fred) Thompson; brother, Randy (Nikki Voelker) Shock; step-brother, Brian (Ellie) Thompson; aunt and uncle: Joan and Art Pierce; special friend, Bob Forstek; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Earl and stepmother; two uncles: Jim and Samuel McAberns; step-grandfather, Fred Thompson, and step-uncle and step-aunt, Jim and Sherrie Thompson.
