Age 87, of Montrose, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026. A funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 1194 E. Mt. Morris Rd. Mt. Morris, MI 48458. Samantha Groom officiating with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Francis was born June 25, 1938, in Flint; he is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Gordon and Evelyn (Dohn) Leeck. Educated locally, Francis attended Mt. Morris High School until heeding his call of duty-enlisting in the United States Army in 1956. During his 21-year career, he spent 15 years as a Non-Commissioned Officer, with the remaining 6 years as Sergeant First Class. Sergeant First Class Francis G. Leeck, would be sent to Vietnam where he would eventually complete two tours in Vietnam; earning his Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 device, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm, Expert Badge W/M16 Rifle bar. Sergeant First Class Francis G. Leeck earned his honorable discharge on March 31, 1976, while stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia. Upon returning to civilian life, he would marry the love of his life, Darlene on September 10, 1977, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Flint. Sergeant First Class Francis G. Leeck, would begin working at Ternstedt for 22 years before transferring to Flint Metal Fab for 2 years until retiring in 2000. In his free time, Francis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, collecting German Steins, old bottles, baseball cards, stamps, Boy Scout memorabilia, Native American Arrowheads, metal detecting, and going on urban explorations. He was a long-time member of the Flint Antique Bottle & Collectibles Club, UAW Local #659 and a member of VFW Post #8236.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Darlene; daughter: Lanette and Craig Reed; three grandchildren: Kaylee, Summer, and Sarah; his sister, Delores Shook; and many other family and friends.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Lyle and Marvin.
