Sharon Marie Funderburg-Sharp (Curtis) was born on April 12, 1961, in Pontiac, Michigan to Robert and Patricia Curtis (Killian). Her journey began in Waterford , where she cultivated the values of care and appreciation for life’s small joys. She graduated from Waterford Kettering High School in 1979 and later pursued college studies focused on becoming a Medical Lab Technician. Sharon embarked on a chapter working as a line worker at General Motors, demonstrating her work ethic and dependability in every role she took on. Through it all, Sharon remained a person who deeply valued the little things, approaching each day with care. Her commitment to serving others led her to enlist in the United States Army, where she served from 1983 to 1985 as a Medical Laboratory Specialist. During her time in the Army she received the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, and her Army Badge. Sharon’s skills and steady hands contributed greatly during her military career. She went on to work as a lab technician in both Texas and Maryland, supporting those around her with diligence and compassion.
Sharon’s vibrant personality shone through in the hobbies and interests that colored her life. She was an accomplished seamstress, finding joy in sewing clothing and performing alterations, and expressed a love for flower gardens that reflected her nurturing spirit. Animals, particularly cats, held a special place in her heart, as did trips to the shooting range and a fascination with Celtic knots, each echoing her appreciation for beauty, precision, and craft. She delighted in walks that offered time for reflection and fitness, and she never tired of revisiting her favorite film, “Sid and Nancy.”
Sharon is survived by her beloved son, Steven; her brother, Michael (Ann); her sister, Denise (Anthony); and her special friends, Connie, Margie and Esther.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert; her mother, Patricia; and her boyfriend, Mike.
While Sharon has left this world, the legacy she created through dedication, warmth, and care will never fade. Her loved ones, friends, and those fortunate enough to cross her path will continue to celebrate the memories of her grace and kindness.
