Sheldon Keith Wetherholt

Age 88, of Flint, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at McLaren Flint. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Sheldon’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.

Sheldon Keith Wetherholt was born on January 8, 1938, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edoward and Bernice (Laramie) Wetherholt. Shortly after graduating from high school, Sheldon heeded his call of duty and enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time in the service, he worked as an aviation mechanic. Upon return to civilian life, he worked at General Motors for many years before his well-earned retirement in 1996. He met, fell in love with, and married the love of his life, Caroline Jackson on October 6, 1989. The two would create many beautiful memories they would cherish for over 30 years together. In his free time, Sheldon enjoyed building model airplanes, playing card games (especially Euchre), and cheering on the Detroit Red Wings. Sheldon also found joy in the outdoors, spending much of his time riding his motorcycle, camping, fishing, and hunting with his wife.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 36 years, Caroline Wetherholt; his children: Sheldon Wetherholt II and wife, Leah, Kimberly Wetherholt and partner, Byron; his step-son, Tony Hamilton; his sister, Jacquie Wetherholt; as well as many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Sheldon was preceded in death by his parents: Edoward and Bernice Wetherholt; his step-daughter, Tammy; and his sister, Sharon.
