Above all else, Susan treasured the time she spent with her family and friends, creating countless memories with those she loved most.
Age 66, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Martin Funeral Cremation & Tribute Services, 1194 E. Mt. Morris Rd. Mt. Morris, Michigan 48458. Susan's family will be present on Saturday at the funeral home to receive friends from 10:30am until the time of service at 2:00pm. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell will officiate. Susan Joyce (Hammel) Hart was born on April 5, 1960, in Flint, Michigan, to Richard and Joyce (LaBarge) Hammel. She graduated from Beecher High School with the class of 1978 before continuing her education at Central Michigan University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in political science in 1982. Susan dedicated nine years of service to the United States Postal Service before joining the Disability Network, where she worked from 1999 until 2008. On April 9, 1988, Susan married the love of her life, Mark Hart, in a beautiful ceremony at Crossroads Village. Together, they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She embraced life with enthusiasm and found joy in many of her favorite pastimes. Susan loved attending rock concerts, spending time by the water, visiting family up north, and traveling whenever she had the opportunity. Among all the places she visited, Hawaii held a special place in her heart and remained her favorite destination. She was also passionate about political science and actively advocated for the causes and issues she believed in. Above all else, Susan treasured the time she spent with her family and friends, creating countless memories with those she loved most.
She is lovingly survived by her children: Tammi Hart, Tyra (Istvan Fulop) Hart, Joshua Hart, Tasha Hart, and Katherine (Bart) Footman; her grandchildren: Antonio, Sean, Olivia, Colin, and Wesley; siblings: Theresa (Dennis) Miller, Richard (Debi) Hammel, Cheri (John) Bennett; her beloved dog, Candy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Mark; and her parents: Richard and Joyce.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
