Age 72, of Mt. Morris, passed away, Friday, January 30, 2026, at home with his family by his side. Mass of Christian burial will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, February 14, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning officiating with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Morris. Timothy's family will be present at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris to receive friends on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm; on Friday evening, family, friends and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at 6:00 pm. On Saturday morning, Timothy will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. Timothy was born on April 3, 1953, in Saginaw, Michigan, he is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Bernard and Clara (Whitney) Kapala. Educated locally, Tim graduated from St. Mary Cathedral in Saginaw with the class of 1971; from there he would earn his bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University, graduating cum laude. After graduating, Tim would become a Field Claims Superintendent for the Cincinnati Insurance Company from 1986 until 2013.
Tim met and married the love of his life Maryln Joyce Stewart on April 24, 1987, at St. John Baptist Church in Carrollton, Michigan. Tim was a member at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris for over thirty years. During that time, Tim loved helping the church out in many capacities; he was a long-time member of the garden club, Bible study group. Tim was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul food pantry for 5 years. During the summer months, Tim could be found coaching the St. Mary’s baseball and football teams. He also enjoyed watching Western movies, fishing at his brother’s house in Caseville with their dad, golfing, and he took tremendous pride in waking up early to clear his driveway long before anyone else in the house was awake, and mowing his lawn with clean, straight lines keeping it immaculate. He was also a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 37 years, Maryln; children: Stephen (Yuiko) Kapala, Matthew (Annie) Kapala; one granddaughter on the way; sister, Sharon (David) Geiersbach; brother, Gary (Karen) Kapala; brothers-in-law: Mark Stewart, and David (Becky) Stewart, sister-in-law, Maria Miller; many loving nieces and nephews; special golfing friends: Dennis, Neal, and Henry.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents; beloved brother, David Kapala, mother-in-law, Betty Rundell and his brother-in-law, Michael Stewart.
