Wayne Elwood Summers

Age 71, of Grand Rapids, died on Sunday, June 29, 2025. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Wayne’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.

Wayne Elwood Summers was born on September 30, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Mr. Elwood Summers and Mrs. Eunice (Daniels) Morgan. Educated locally, Wayne graduated in the class of 1971 from Mt. Morris High School. He worked for Applegate Chevrolet as an auto body collision repair painter from 1976 until 1981. In his free time, he enjoyed working on rocket models, custom automobile paint jobs, riding motorcycles and go karts, and controlling Cox airplanes. He took great pride in caring for any automotive vehicle, especially his 1969 Chevelle. Most of all, he found joy in spending time with his family. He lived a protective lifestyle and has defended his brothers many times while growing up.

Left to cherish his memory is his brother: Erwin Evans; his sister: Kim Harris; his aunt and uncle: Jim and Rita Daniels; and his three cousins: Chris, Jessie, and Jenny.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and his three siblings: Linley Summers, Eunell Geraci, and Michael Evans.
