Age 80, of Chesaning, Michigan, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, resilience, unwavering generosity and love.
Bill was a man whose life was marked by quiet courage and steadfast integrity. Through every challenge, he stood tall and strong, facing hardship with a grit that inspired those around him. Even in his own times of need, he never hesitated to extend a helping hand with his heart always open to others. He was truly one of a kind. Known for being stubborn in the best ways, Bill lived by a strong sense of principle and a commitment to doing what was right. His strength was not only physical, but moral and emotional a constant anchor for his family and friends.
Bill was extremely proud of the 37 years he worked in skilled trades as a tool and die maker at General Motors (Buick)
When you hear Bill’s name, remember him for all that he was. A man who came from less than nothing and built everything he had in this life from the ground up. A strong, willful, determined and above capable man. The man who continuously gave to others and never asked for anything in return. The man who always showed up for everybody regardless of how far the drive or how big the storm was. The man who wasn’t dealt the best of cards in life, time and time again yet would still smile and share great stories. Remember Bill. A great MAN.
He is survived by his daughters: Lisa McClain, Sherry June (Paul), Amy Click (Ron), and Jenny McClain-Heinz. His longtime companion, Mary and their much-loved dog, Woofie, 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ellsworth (Mac) McClain (Cheryl). Each of them carries a piece of his spirit forward, remembering the quiet wisdom and deep care he offered throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Ellsworth and Norma (Taylor) McClain, his siblings: Evelyn Bunn (Bruce), Goldie Franz (George), Elvira Jones (Ken), Jerry McClain (Doris), David McClain, Cecil McClain, Norma Nelson (Richard) and grandchildren: William Smith and Angela McClain.
