Age 82, of Genesee, died Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at McLaren Flint. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:00 am, Friday, April 30, 2021, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Flint. Fr. Anthony Smela will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary Calvary Cemetery, Mt. Morris. The family will be present to receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, Mt. Morris, on Thursday April 29, 2021, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Thursday evening, family, friends and parish will gather at the funeral home for a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 pm. On Friday morning, Mr. Mellow will be taken to church to lie in state from 9:00 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am during which the family will be present to receive friends at the church. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, St. Matthew Catholic Church, or a Charity of their Choice. Bill was born in Fint, MI, on April 15, 1939, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Eric and Edith (Millington) Mellow. In his younger years, Bill enjoyed hunting out West. Educated locally, Bill graduated from Flint Central High with the Class of 1957. He then continued his education attending Flint Community College and spent some time at GMI. Bill met, fell in love with, and was married to the love of his life Judith on January 31, 1998, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. William went on to become a draftsman for GDE going directly into draft and design, directly out of college, working there until his retirement in 2004. Bill liked to travel out West and down South to visit family in Georgia and Florida to see friends and make new friends. He was an avid golfer, active member of Arrowhead Club, and the past president. A wonderful husband, awesome step-dad and Papa. Bill was a good man and very loving, He especially enjoyed going to Georgia to see grand and great- grandkids. Bill loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-sons, and family. He had a big heart and would do anything for anybody, he was however, full of it. Bill was newly baptized into the Catholic Church on March the 15, 2021, what a happy and blessed day and became a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Flint. He liked golfing anywhere, traveling all over with his buddies, he enjoyed bowling in a league with his precious Judy, and was quite good at it for an old dude. In his free time, Bill enjoyed golf, cards, traveling and seeing the rest of his family. Despite being in a wheelchair for the last 5 years he never let that hold him back. Bill leaves to cherish his memory wife of 23 years: Judith "Judy" Mellow; step-children: Rob and wife, Erica Ehrhart, Jeff Ehrhart, Chris Ehrhart; grandchildren: Jessica Hickson, Joshua Ehrhart; great-grandchildren: Jackson Hickson, Leo Hickson; brother: Jim and wife, Judi Mellow; special cousin: Cheri and several cousins and other relatives. Bill was predeceased by his parents and sister: Marcia Mellow.
