Obituary of Marcy Richardson

Age 74, of Mt. Morris, died peacefully, April 27, 2024, at Serene Gardens in Grand Blanc, with her family by her side. A funeral service will take place at 11:30am, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor John Flanders to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Marcella’s family will be present to receive friends on Monday, from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, and again on Tuesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, Marcella’s family has asked that memorial contributions be considered to the Michael J. Fox Foundation at www.michaeljfox.org. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Marcella’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.

Marcella “Marcy” was born on September 1, 1949, in Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forest and Lillian (Stone) Nichols. Educated locally, Marcy graduated from Kearsley High School with the Class of 1967. She met and married the love of her life, Donald Richardson and the two have been inseparable ever since. Marcy's career path would lead her to working within the Genesee County Courts, eventually working as the Senior Court Clerk until her retirement in 2004. A long-time member of the Richfield Baptist Church, Marcy attended church there for 65 years, and was currently a member of Landmark Baptist Church. In her younger years, Marcy enjoyed bowling on a league with her husband. Baking was something Marcy was passionate about. She was an amazing cake decorator and baker. Marcy also enjoyed sewing and embroidering. She made many outfits for her children when they were younger. Photography was another of Marcy's favorite hobbies.She was always taking photos to capture memories. Marcy also enjoyed camping at Outdoor Adventure with her family. She could often be found playing cards every Friday night for many years. Playing games with her family was something she truly enjoyed. From board games to computer games, as long as she was spending time with her family, she was happy. Marcy loved her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed.    

Marcy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Meygan, Rose and Brandy as well as Stephanie and Snoop from Serene Gardens for their wonderful care. They would also like to thank Lori Miller for visiting her at the nursing home and cutting and styling her hair.

Left to cherish Marcy’s memory are her beloved husband, Donald Richardson; children: Terri and husband, Tony Franckowiak, Mendy and husband, Rick Caraway, Wendy and husband, Matt Batchelder; grandchildren: Ryan and wife Michelle, Austin and fiancé, Julie, Ashlyn and husband, Jake, Kaden, Ana, Sam, Isaac; great-grandchildren: Dean, Owen, Henry, Rayn; siblings: Thomas and wife, Kathy Nichols, Vernon Nichols, Forest and wife, Chey Nichols, Jr.; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Marcy was preceded in death by her parents.
